He lives and he is riding into Somerville to tell his story.

Washington Irving penned The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in 1819, a tale that has endured for centuries, inspiring countless adaptations in movies, television, coloring books, and cartoons. Even Disney has created its own version. On October 12th, Downtown Somerville will bring this iconic story to life with a unique re-enactment. Haunted History Productions will immerse you in the world of Sleepy Hollow, featuring beloved characters like Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones, and Ichabod Crane. As you stroll through the dimly lit streets of Downtown Somerville, with the crisp fall breeze and the scent of autumn in the air, keep your eyes peeled—you might just catch a glimpse of the Headless Horseman. Or could it be one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse whose names are Apocalypse, War, Famine and the star of tonight's encounter…Death! This walking storybook adventure promises to be a one-of-a-kind Halloween experience. Combining legend, theology, and theatre, it’s sure to be the highlight of your fall season. Children 12 and under will receive free trick-or-treat bag, with sweet treats available at every stop. Gather your family and friends, because The “Headless Horseman Rides Into Somerville” is an event that will thrill and entertain all ages.

Tours depart every 15 minutes from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. To save time, purchase your time slot in advance and skip the line!

Stroller kids and  5 and under are free.  Service dogs only  are permitted.

All adventures depart from Division Street  in groups every 15 minutes.  . 

This is a 55 minute walking experience. so please wear appropriate attire. 

Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time.

Find the line marked with your time departure and line up as you wait for your event to begin.  Staff may provide additional details upon arrival.
